According to the Telecommunication watchdog ANRT, the global mobile phone base stood at 55.2 million subscribers in Q1 2024, bringing the penetration rate to 149.1% against 144.2% a year earlier. By operator, the number of mobile subscribers reached 19.3 million for Maroc Telecom, i.e. a market share of 34.9%. Medi Telecom's market share stood at 32.7% against 32.4% for Wana Corporate. As for the fixed line market, the penetration rate settled at 8.0% against 7.4% in Q1 2023. Maroc Telecom has a market share of 59.2%.
Finally, the total number of Internet subscribers stood at 38.3 million, up 7.5%. The Internet penetration rate stood at 103.5% in Q1 2024 against 97.2% a year earlier. In this context, Maroc Telecom holds a market share of 33.0% against 67.0% for the other operators.

According to the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO), the growth rate of the economy of the WAEMU region should reach 6.1% in 2024 compared to 5.3% in 2023. Recall that the growth of economic activity in WAEMU settled at 5.1% in Q1 2024.
