| BENIN | INFLATION | Consumer prices up 1.0% y-o-y in July 2022

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSTAD), Benin's Harmonized Consumer Price Index increased by 0.7% in July 2022 compared to the previous month. Year-on-year, the country's inflation rate stands at 1.0% below the community convergence threshold set at 3.0% by WAEMU.

According to the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), the trade turnover index shows an increase of 15.3% at the end of May 2022, year-on-year. This performance is mainly linked to that of retail trade (+16.3%), wholesale trade (+15.0%) and trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+5.1%).
