Morocco’s coastal and artisanal fishing industry is showing signs of slowdown. According to the National Fisheries Office, the volume of fish landings dropped by 16%, reaching 523,765 tons by the end of July 2025. This decline has had a direct impact on the sector’s financial performance, with revenues slipping by 3% year-over-year, totaling MAD 6.1 billion.

In West Africa, the economic momentum continues to build. The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) estimates that the WAEMU region recorded a 7.3% growth rate in the second quarter of 2025. Looking ahead, the bank forecasts a slight uptick, with growth expected to reach 7.4% in the third quarter.
